Trekking in Nepal

The Gokyo-Ri Trek starts from Lukla after 45 minute mountain flight from Kathmandu, following up the Dudh Koshi River valley towards Namche, and other main villages of Khumbu, Thame & Khumjung. After Khumjung Valley we branch off from the main busy trail towards the sleepy village of Phortse Tenga and finally reaching to our ultimate destination at Gokyo. Gokyo, a one time yak pasture is blessed with two beautiful high lakes.

The mountains are more spectacular, the Ngozumpa Glacier is the largest in the Nepal Himalaya and from a ridge above Gokyo, and for 8000m peaks (Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse and Makalu) are visible at once. The view of the tremendous ice ridge between Cho Oyu and Gyachung Kang (7922m) is one of the most dramatic panoramas in Khumbu. There are many options for additional exploration and high-altitude walking, including the crossing of Cho La, a 5420m-high pass into Khumbu however we will not cross this pass in this trek. We will come back to Lukla almost a same route.The trek starts in Lukla. Clients carry daypack only and walk at their own pace. The trekking hours will be about 6-7 hr per day.

Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu. Receive and transfer to hotel. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 2: Kathmandu City Tour. City Tours. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 3: Fly Kathmandu – Lukla – trek Phakding (2640m)
Day 4: Trek Phakding – Namche (3440m)
Day 5: Rest day in Namche for acclimatization. A day side trip may be made to nearby Sherpa villages.
Day 6: Trek Namche - Phortse Thanga (3600m)
Day 7: Trek Phortse Thanga - Machhermo (4410m)
Day 8: Trek Machhermo - Gokyo (4750m)
Day 9: Trek Gokyo – Gokyo-Ro (Gokyo Peak 5480m) - back to Gokyo
Day 10: Trek back Gokyo - Dole (4040m)
Day 11: Trek Dole - Khumjung (3780m)
Day 12: Trek back Khumjung - Phakding (2610m)
Day 13: Trek back Khumjung - Lukla (2840m)
Day 14: Fly back Lukla – Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel.
Day 15/16: Free days. This days are spare days for flight delay/cancellation from Lukla. This days can be used for optional sightseeing/shopping in Kathmandu. On day 16th evening, a farewell dinner at Nepalese typical restaurante will be provided. vernight at hotel..
Day 17: Departure. Transfer to airport for final departure.
