Dhaulagiri Golden Jubilee Celebrating::
Kathmandu: 12 May, 2010:
According to the government officials the Ministry of Tourism Nepal is preparing to celebrate the golden jubilee of the first ascent of Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m). A grand ceremony will be organized in mid of this month in honor of Austrian climber Kurt Diemberger, the only person alive to make first ascent on the 8,000m peak.
The first successful ascent of Mt. Dhaulagiri was made on May 13, 1960. Mt. Dhaulagiri was considered the world’s highest mountain until the mid 1800s before to discover exact height of Mt. Everest.

Along with Mr Kurt Diemberger, legendary summiteers Ang Rita Sherpa, Apa Sherpa, Reinhold Messner, Peter Habeler, Chris Bonnington, Ken Noguchi and other others are expected to be attended the event going to be held in the premises of International Mountain Museum in Pokhara.
